BIOGRAPHY

A graduate in architecture in 1996, since 2006 he has been an Associate Professor in the Design Department of the Politecnico di Milano, where since 1999 he has taught in the Communication Design Programme. In 2014 he earned his national qualification for tenure as a full professor. In 2012 and again in 2016 he was elected Dean of the Communication Design Programme. A member of the council for the Doctorate programme in Design (Politecnico di Milano), co-editor of the scientific review “Big Data and Society” (SAGE) since 2014, Fellow of the ISI Foundation, he has taught and lectured in many other universities (ENSCI Les Ateliers, Glasgow School of Arts, British Higher School of Art and Design Moscow, the Stanford Humanities Centre (USA), China Central Academy for Fine Arts (CAFA), Beijing, Royal College of Arts – London, Harvard University, Northeastern University – CAMD (USA). Since 2004 his educational work has centred on themes relating to Communication Design and Information Design. His personal and laboratory research work focuses on the design of visual interfaces for the representation of data and information about complex social phenomena.
